Deaf Dog Consultations and Training online unless within Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
Owning and working with a deaf dog brings its challenges, but I can honestly say that when you establish a connection and your dog begins to work with you it is the most magical moment.
Many people ask me how can a deaf dog live a fulfilled life and do 'dog' things that we take for granted. The answer is they can with correct, kind and consistent training and correct management.
I have been gaurdian to 4 deaf dogs who have taught me more than any other dogs. Most especially how to read body language and the importance of your own body language when you are training.
Working with a deaf dog will improve your skills as a trainer! With years of experience I have a lot of useful methods and tips to help you manage and enjoy working with your deaf dog in the household, while out and about, and while training.
When I work with you remotely I prefer to use face time so I can see your dog and demonstrate hand signals etc, and will ask you to send me video's of your dog using what'sapp. I am also happy to use zoom or a phone call. I work by an initial 'Starter Session' which is a longer session (approx 2 hours) so I can find out all about your dog and give you general vital background information on behaviour including body language, how this may vary with a deaf dog and why this will help you when working with a deaf dog. I will aso give advice on any paractical management that will help you. I also offer ongoing advice by phone to help with any issues and give guidance with the exercises or practical management.
We will look at specific exercises to help address any issues you might be having, and start to build with general training.
Deaf dogs can and do excel at Dog Sports aswell, whether this is Agility, Hoopers, Mantrailing, Scentwork, Rally O, so I can build exercises to help you work towards you chosen sport, or just give you ideas on fun things you can try at home with your deaf dog.
You will be sent written details on the points we discuss and clear instructions on exercises we cover following the consultation.
